Create Record Tool
Creating a record begins by selecting the Create Record tool[
]. That presents the first entry screen:
]. That presents the first entry screen:
You are able to select the dataset to which the new record is to be created and its instance type via the dropdown lists.
While the system will assign an ID for the new record for you automatically, it is advisable to provide a logical name that may make it easier for you to recall the record later (without needing to do a search).
Upon completion of the initial entry, you are then presented with the detailed instance record entry. Note that the attributes are totally dependent on the instance type chosen (in this case for Person for our fictional Fu Manchu):

It is not necessary to fill out all or indeed any of the record fields. However, of course, at minimum, the basic name of the instance is highly recommended.
Please also note at this juncture that validation of entered data is not yet enforced for all fields. However, for some entries, you may get an error message with explanation for an invalid entry.
